Summary:
Stock up for that summer party without leaving your house. Free delivery of many party essentials makes preparing for your next gathering a breeze.
The Hack:
Too hot to leave the conforts of the AC? Party going stronger than anticipated and you need to reload? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. With so many businesses competing for your dollars, many offer services to entice customers, with one of the big ones being free delivery. Sometimes delivery may cost you a couple of bucks, but is probably well worth it compared to the cost of leaving your apartment in the hands of drunks friends. Below are some party essentials, and how you can get them delivered right to your door.
Most good parties are going to have something to eat, even if it is just a bowl of Doritos. Who wants to drag a bunch of groceries back from the store? You have plenty of choices when it comes to food delivery in Manhattan and the outer buroughs. Fresh Direct is probably the most widely known of these services. Now you are going to be paying between a $5 and $6 delivery charge, but that should be offset with some smart shopping. FD offers weekly specials that are pretty good, so shop around the site and find those deals. They also offer many “heat and eat” type meals, so your guests will think you have some skills in the kitchen. Beer and wine is also available, for around the same price as the corner store. For example, a Brooklyn Lager 6-pack will put you back about $9. Delivery is available until 11PM, and is FREE for the first 2 months if you use the promo code, FDDELIVERSCRT. Many others offer delivery, including Peapod and Whole Foods. Got a better grocery delivery service? Let us know at tips@hacknyc.com.
So you are stocked up on food, what next? Drinks of course. Beer, liquor and wine is only a phone call away thanks to the hardworking deliverymen in this city. Beacon Wine and Spirits is a popular choice for delivery, if you live in Manhattan, but make sure you order early in the day to ensure the spirits are there by party time. They do require a $50 minimum, but offer discounts on bigger orders. Another we like, 67 Wine and Spirits, who offer free delivery in Manhattan on orders over $125. These are just two examples of many that are available. One of our new favorite sites is Wakozi. Put in your address and it will come back with a list of businesses that offer delivery to your area. The great thing about the site, it shows delivery cost, and also hours of delivery. The site is supposed to offer any type of delivery service, but currently the database seems mostly populated with alcohol delivery, so check it out!
Second only to running out of beverages in terms of party fouls, running out of ice. Bailey’s, in promotion of a their new summer drink, is offering free ice to New Yorkers. This one is going to take a little luck though. Saturday nights, between 7PM-10PM, text SHIVER to 69866, and if the Bailey’s truck is within a 10-block radius of you, a free bag of ice willshow up at your door.
So you have food, beer, liquor, ice…what else do you need? Midgets of course! Dwarf Entertainment is the number one source for dwarf entertainment in New York (full size talent also available). The good news here, last minute bookings are accepted! So, late night, party is dying down but you want to keep it going, call up your friends at Dwarf Entertainment for a little fun.
We hope we have brought you everything you need for a successful party. We know there are other ideas out there, you can get just about anything delivered, let us hear them! tips@hacknyc.com
